Timothy Albert, MD, FACC, is the medical director of Tanner Medical Group, a 180+ provider multi-specialty group with over 30 practice locations in western Georgia and east Alabama.

In addition, he is the principal physician involved in developing advanced cardiovascular imaging programs for Tanner Health System, a multi-hospital medical system in west Georgia, and a practicing cardiologist. Tim earned his medical degree from UCSF, completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Washington, and completed his fellowship training in adult cardiology at Duke University where he also pursued advanced training in cardiovascular MRI (CMR) at the Duke Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Center.

Dr. Albert’s recent career focus has been on promoting advanced cardiovascular imaging with CMR and non-contrast vascular MRA in community-based settings.  Through collaborations with academia and industry, he has led research and development projects in cardiovascular MRI, developed novel physician education programs for CMR, and worked to promote CMR through national and international lecturing.

Dr. Albert has served on medical device and imaging company advisory boards and maintains leadership positions in various healthcare organizations including holding an elected position on the board of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR), where he is currently the chairman of the Advocacy Committee, and a position on the American College of Cardiology’s Cardiovascular Imaging Section Leadership Council.

Dr. Albert has been the primary author or co-author on review articles, book chapters and original scientific publications in the area of cardiac imaging.  Dr. Albert is currently enrolled in the Master in Health Care Management program at the Harvard School of Public Health.
